Birthday fry-up

Andrew is a big fan of the full English breakfast, known around our house as a "fry-up". It's the meal he requested for his birthday, so I served him this plate:
Fried potatoes, fried eggs, fried (veggie) sausages, and fried tomatoes. Not pictured: fried bread.
He also got homemade (fried) donuts.

Then he reacted as expected: he took four antacids and lay down on the floor in misery.

  1. Poor lad - fancy suffering like that on his birthday!

  3. Sigh. What has happened to the former devourer of pigs heads :(

  4. I gotta say though, the potatoes look pretty expertly fried. I take issue with the tomatoes still retaining their shape though. All the fry ups I've seen have them disintegrating on the plate.

  5. Alexis - you're right. I received some constructive feedback regarding the tomatoes in future fry-ups.

  7. I know it's a contradiction in terms but when I do a fry up as in full English breakfast - I grill most of the components - and the fried eggs/bread etc get put on white kitchen roll absorbing as much of the surface grease as possible - that way we don't need the antacids. Also I use olive oil for the frying element - trying to make it a healthier eat.
