Five days of typing on Dvorak and I'm up to 8 words per minute. Don't expect any chatty posts until I can raise that painful number a bit. For now it's, "Just the facts, ma'am, just the facts."
It's recommended that you don't switch back and forth while learning, but it seems like some people do it once they're good at Dvorak. It's easy to switch any computer to Dvorak and back again, though - as easy as telling it you have a left-handed mouse.

well I admire your commitment!
Once you've made this change how will that affect your ability to use all the old qwerty keyboards?
oof. I hope it's worth it!
