Summer is fast approaching.  That means it's time for barbecues, beaches and garage sales!  To help you prepare for this American summer tradition, Renee Michelle explains about different garage saling cultures.

Your blog is an education!
In the UK we have car boot sales - for the really good ones sellers need to arrive at the venue (usually a farmer's field, or a cricket club or school field)at about 5 a.m. That way they get to select a good pitch. Keen buyers arrive from about 7.00a.m.to get the best of the bargains. There is even a TV programme - people go to a boot sale, buy what they think is a treasure and then sell it at an auction hoping to make a big profit - and sometimes they do.
P.S. Right hand driving looks pretty scary - I don't usually feel the need to close my eyes when Andrew is driving .

Welcome back to Matty Lou. It was fun seeing a video again. We need to plan ahead for when she is not available. Do you want a video camera for a wedding gift so Mr. Styling with RM can tape when Matty Lou cannot?

Loved the video!

In NM they're called tag sales (I guess because you put a tag with the price on?) and Friday is the traditional starting day.

I wish I had more time to arrange it; I'd hire Matty to come to CT and video the upcoming procedure - it would make a great post to my blog.

I miss garage sales. We only get one a year, it's called Queen's day. It starts on the queen's b-day. :)

In Chicago you might see them on the week days but they are usually on the Weekends. You have to be REALLY early , there are people that go around (especially if you Craigslist) and show up before you're announced starting time specifically to buy all the good stuff. Which I imagine they take down to Maxwell street and sell for profit!
