Let's just all lay here quietly until Fall

I know the whole country is suffering from various weather-related ailments (what's your poison? tornadoes? floods?), but it is HOT in DC. We are melting. And our air conditioner just isn't up to the challenge. It can keep the indoor temperature about five degrees cooler than the outdoor temperature, which, you know, is better than nothing, but when it's 98F then our house is 93. On Saturday we lay around, stretched out under the ceiling fans, surrounded by cats trying to cool off the same way. On Sunday we went to the beach, and the bliss of the frigid Atlantic cannot be described.

Can I retract that blissful ode about the joys of summer that I posted a few weeks ago? I've changed my mind.

Albuquerque, New Mexico - Highs are in the low 90's but dry and in the evening it is dropping to 60 so we run the evaporative cooler (uses about a tenth of the energy as an air conditioner) for around 5 hours a day. Occasionally we have some high wind.

Speaking as a fellow Marylander, the dry 90's and ability to cool oneself down at night with a tenth of the energy usage sounds like Nirvana.
I hung up some laundry on Friday and am still waiting for it to dry!

I remember the humidity of MD as a child... suffocating. Give me pissy, continual rain any day!

yeah, we got your humidity right here. Chicago- it's just like MD only there's no spring or fall!

The problem Matty Lau is that for that wonderful weather you have to give up all semblance of cultural activity...unless you like bolo ties.
