This past weekend, I went to Denmark to visit my cousin A´s family. They´ve been living there for two years, and for months I have been meaning to visit because they are my closest family. Denmark was a wonderful change from Spain because of all the cold and rain, and I miss a proper winter. In addition, it was a good opportunity to eat smørrebrød, which are open-faced sandwiches on very dark bread.

I just love my cousin´s family. Her daughters are lively and funny and it´s so interesting to learn about their lives. Unfortunately, her husband R was sick and couldn´t do much with us, although he had enough energy to celebrate his birthday. And of course, the two cats were as cute as her blog had promised.

El fin de semana pasado, fui a Dinamarca a visitar a mi prima y a su familia. Desde hace dos años están viviendo allí. Desde hace meses tenía la intención de visitarlos porque son mi familia más cercana. Dinamarca fue un cambio agradable en comparación con España, porque hacía más frío y lluvia allí, y, echo de menos un invierno real. Además, fue una oportunidad para comer smørrebrød, es decir, bocadillos abiertos con pan negro.

Me encanta la familia de mi prima. Sus hijas son muy vitales y muy divertidas y fue un placer aprender sobre sus vidas. Desafortunadamente, su esposo estuvo enfermo y no pudo hacer muchos planes con nosotros, pero tuvo suficiente energía para celebrar su cumpleaños. Por último, las dos gatas que vi eran preciosas, tal y como esperaba después de haberlas visto en el blog de mi prima.

It´s my understanding that every tourist is required to visit the Little Mermaid.  Hans Christian Anderson´s story is sad, like most of those he wrote. I am glad that we no long teach our children that they shouldn´t desire more than they have.  //

Creo que cada turista debería tener la obligación de visitar a la Sirenita. Este cuento de Hans Cristian Anderson es triste, como lo son la mayoría de sus obras. Me hace feliz que enseñemos a nuestros hijos a desear más de lo que tienen, a mejorar y no conformarse con cualquier cosa.

We visited Hamlet´s castle, which is named Kronberg in real life. Shakespeare never visited, but it was well-known in his time. It was super interesting to see a location that I had thought was imaginary. The interior design of the castle, and of all the building including churches, is really different than that of Spain. Denmark: spacious, white, and quiet. Spain, full of: statues, gold, and explosions of color. //

Visitamos el castillo de Hamlet (la obra de Shakespeare), que se llama Kronberg en realidad. Fue superinteresante ver un lugar que pensaba que era imaginario. El estilo de decoración del castillo y de edificios como las iglesias es extremadamente diferente al estilo de España. Si tuviera que describir resumidamente, diría lo siguiente: Dinamarca, espacio, blanco, y tranquilo. España, llena de: estatuas, oro, y explosiones de color.

The castle had a great program for kids. Here, N. is questioning a sixteenth century musician about the traitor who is trying to sell the king´s secrets.  //
