América, parte 3: Washington (the state // el estado)

Unfortunately, the next part of my trip was delayed because I got sick. I slept four days in my friends´ guest room, then traded Washington the city for Washington the state, where my brother's family lives. I really love its lush and verdant landscapes, especially now that I live in such a dry country.

I began by convincing some of the family to go to some speciality supermarkets with me. They all love Asian food and didn't know how easy it would be to make some of their favorite dishes with the right ingredients. And I really miss places like this, because the Asian grocery stores are pretty tiny here in Madrid.

We also went apple picking, which goes so much faster than picking berries. I think this is probably why apple orchards offer other activities, so we hung out with the llamas, goats, and pigs for a while. I couldn´t visit the family as long as I wanted, but I´m glad it worked out for at least part of the trip.

My brother driving his autonomous car. It´s flipping unbelieveable that you can "drive" without touching anything.

I love the stealthy campaigning going on here.

I appreciate the quickness and the efficiency of the translating quality control system of your posts! I also think if I were in Spain long-term, the lack of Asian ingredients and other foods would wear on me as they are a major part of what I cook now.

ugh boo about getting sick. Washington is so beautiful. In a very different way from Madrid.
